PALCS Field Trip to Crayola

Our cyberschool had a field trip to the Crayola Factory on Friday. Timothy had a great time. We had been there before, but this was the first time it was just the two of us -- so he got to do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted.

Photography Class Assignment

For my first photography class homework assignment, we had to take 10 different shots of the same subject. I have found that I don't do well when I go out to look for something to photograph. I don't see things the same way. I had finally taken those flower shots that I shared a couple of days ago.

Yesterday evening, Hannah and I had some girls time together and went to the Blue Marsh Lake overlook just a few miles from our home. We just went there to sit and talk, but while there, I saw this bat house. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me, but I knew that it was a much better subject that the flowers in my yard.

Today, I went back with my camera, and enjoyed a photo shoot with the bat house. I am so much happier with these photos for my homework!

Photography Class

For my birthday, Kurt enrolled me in a photography class. I have always loved photography, but have never taken a class. I had my first class this past Wednesday. For homework, we had to go outside and take 10 shots of the exact same subject. We will bring them in next class and discuss them. Here is one of my shots of some flowers by our front porch.

My New Job

I'm excited to announce that I will be teaching for JoAnn beginning next month. I have been talking with the new educational coordinator of our new JoAnn Superstore that is opening in April. This week I will be meeting with her to put classes on the schedule for April through August. I am really excited about it. I've always wanted to be a sewing teacher. I am going to be doing both children's classes and adult classes. :-)

Embroidered Blankets

Hannah and Jonathan's Sunday School class is doing a mission project of making fleece baby blankets to give to a local hospital and crisis pregnancy center. Hannah volunteered me to embroider a scripture in the corner of each one. This past Sunday, they got 15 blankets done -- I had 6 embroidered already and have 9 more to embroider before next Sunday. That's just the beginning. They have plans of making 30-50 of these!
